Tunnels and tent sets are a fantastic activity for gross motor development while providing opportunities for language stimulation. Going IN and OUT and UNDER and THROUGH is so much fun and is a great way to work on listening skills and following directions
Mr. Potato Head can be used in many ways; from body part identification, to colour identification to basic concepts. This toy is extremely versatile and is loved by many therapists.
A farm animal set allows children to act out familiar actions and scenarios (e.g. eating, sleeping, running).
Making animal sounds is also linked to early speech and literacy development
Building blocks are a great language building activity. It involves social interaction (turn taking, problem solving, collaborating), basic concepts, (tall, short, big, small) and plenty of opportunity for pretend play.
